Denmark Weather Guide
Denmark's weather often surprises visitors with its mildness. Although it is not uncommon for Denmark to see a blanket of snow draped over its landscape for one month out of the year, temperatures rarely drop to the bone-chilling depths found in neighboring Sweden.
Because Denmark is surrounded by ocean, it enjoys a slight warming effect similar to that found in Manhattan. In both locations, the weather by latitude should be significantly colder, but the body of water surrounding each has a normalizing, or stabilizing effect on temperatures. In the case of Denmark however, some of the nation's more dramatic weather phenomena are directly attributable to the ocean, such as powerful winds and on rare occasions, floods.
Precipitation appears about in about half the days of each month, though it falls in slightly greater volume during the summer and fall seasons. Summer is a very pleasant season in Denmark, where very temperate weather coaxes Danes out of doors and into the woods.
Travelers find the comfortable weather and slowed pace of life during the summer very relaxing. Much like nearby
Amsterdam, Denmark generally has a short winter book-ended by long, slightly chilly seasons. Because nowhere in Denmark is very far from the ocean, showers can arrive unexpectedly, although most years the Danes will enjoy several weeks of uninterrupted sunshine. The range of temperature in Denmark is generally from just below zero degrees Celsius in the winter to the low twenties in the summer.
