Bordeaux is most famous for being the world’s wine capital city. In addition to this, the village offers tourists historic attractions, unique wine therapy spas, shops, incredible food, etc.

This is one of the largest cities in France and it is located on the banks of the River Garome. The city is best known for its wines, its Gothic mansions and appealing nightlife. The city of Bordeaux has some historic monuments, cathedral but the most important attractions are the vineyards.

There are some of the most exclusive and famous chains such as Cartier, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, , Mont Blanc, Christian Lacroix, and Rolex. Of course, there are other more accessible boutiques where you can shop.

Jardin Public, which is situated in the center of the city, has beautiful gardens, lakes and trees. In the Jardin Public there is a Jardin Botanique, which was founded in 1629, there is also a museum and a playground for children.

Esplanade des Quinconces is the biggest square in Europe and it was built in 1820.
Saint André Cathedral is a famous landmark and it was restored in the 19th century. The bell tower offers a breathtaking view of the city.

Shopping is another option in Bordeaux. The principal shopping areas are Rue Porte Dijeaux, Course de I’ltendance and Rue Sainte Catherine. The city offers a wide variety of marketplaces where you can buy fresh flowers, clothes, food, and you can also enjoy some cultural events.

The musée des Beaux-Arts located near the Palais Rohan. The museum regularly exhibits a collection of 17th century Flemish, Dutch and Italian works. There are other museums in the city of Bordeaux such the Decoreative Arts Museum, the Bordeaux Wines Museum and the Museum of Aquitaine among others.

Another attraction is Le Grand Théâtre which was built between 1773 and 1780 by Victor Louis. This is one of the most attractive buildings.

The Palais Rohan was built in 1771 by the Archbishop of Bordeaux. The building has undergone numerous renovations but the staircase, which is the main feature, is kept intact.

There are many tours around the city and nearby locations but you cannot miss the Wine Tours, which take you to the well-known vineyards. You can obtain information in the City’s tourism Office and the tours are organized daily from April to November.
