There are different ways of getting to London. One of the most cost-effective and fastest means of transport to get to London from Europe and other places within the UK is the plane. You can also opt for other ways of travel for example, coach or train. Rail service is an excellent alternative since you can reach London by train from many cities in Great Britain and also from some European cities.


This city houses 5 airports. The most important and biggest one is Heathrow and it is considered to be the most active airport in the world. The next in importance is Gatwick, which is a little smaller. The others are Stansted, Luton and City Airport. UK and European airports have daily direct flights to all of them but only Heathrow and Gatwick receive flights from North America. The costs of the tickets are more expensive from June to mid-September and also at holydays such as Christmas and New Year. The best way to find cheap fares is booking them in advance or another option would be to buy them on the Internet at a very good price.


If you arrive at London by plane to Heathrow, then you will need to get to the centre of the city itself. To achieve this there are different options. One of them is Heathrow Express which is fast and it takes 15 minutes to get to Paddington station. This rail line is expensive but it is worth it. You can also use the underground, but of course it is not that comfortable. The bus is another option and although it is slow it is cheap. If you arrive at Gatwick, you can reach central London by train, by bus or by taxi. The same options are available from the other airports

Local, provincial, national and international rail services reach London city. There are different major stations in the city: London Waterloo, London Victoria, London Bridge, London Liverpool Street, London Paddington, London King Cross, London St. Pancras, London Euston, London Fenchurch Street, London Cannon Street and London Charing Cross. To travel from one of any of these stations to the other you can use the London Underground service. The main rail service companies are GNER, Virgin Trains, Scotrail and First Great Western.

Ii you go to London by coach or rail, you will arrive at central London since they get you to London Victoria coach station which is placed right in the centre of the city. In London the principal roads are signed by a letter and numbers. The letter M stands for motorway, the letter A represents major trunk road and the letter B stands for minor trunk road. If you decide to go to London by car, the M20 will take you straight to central London. Drivers must remember to drive on the left and wear seatbelts since this is compulsory in the city.
