Rent a bicycle and take yourself back in time to turn of the century England by exploring some of the outlying villages of Northern England, or simply take a half day trip to Peel tower and take in the sights.
Manchester is not all bangers and mash, but has its urban cultural side as well. Home to the Trafford Center; the biggest shopping center in the UK, many Londoners find themselves heading north to do their shopping. Manchester also has a strong gay community, and may be a welcomed refuge from UK machismo. Manchester also has its share of pubs and clubs; the hardworking locals know how to enjoy a pint or ten after a hard day's work.
A welcoming city, many people consider Manchester a less posh version of London. Manchester is a city with a style all its own, and is well worth the short trip from London.
