Beaches Mykonos Guide

With names like "Paradise" and "Super Paradise", one can see why the beaches of Mykonos are some of the most popular in Europe. Mykonos has been a popular vacation spot for decades, and the gorgeous beaches on the southern end of the island are packed with revelers each and every summer. The southern Mykonos beaches are known for having some of the most happening night lives of the Greek islands, while the more secluded beaches on the Northern end may be equally beautiful, but less crowded.

Close to the Chora, you will find "Super Paradise" beach, on the southern end of the island. This popular party beach has shallow warm water and fine, golden sand. It is one of the island's larger beaches and has a pool and a popular bar. This beach is a destination for homosexual travelers, and is a well-known homosexual gathering place.

Next door to the "Super Paradise" beach is the "Paradise". Slightly larger than the "Super Paradise" beach, Paradise is reachable by a footpath from Platis Yialos, by bus or by taxi-boat. There is a large camping site located just behind the beach as well as numerous diving and water sports resources. Paradise beach is a popular spot for nudists and, each night, the entire beach turns into a sort of outdoor dance club on which people dance and party until dawn.

For a quieter beach experience on the southern end of the island, try the large Elias beach. This beach is accessible by the caique; a fishing boat used to bring people to hard-to-access beaches. It is the last stop on the boat and so, is less crowded. This makes Elias a popular beach for nudists and families, or anyone who wants a break from the wild partying of the paradise beaches. Though uncrowded, Elias beach has adequate facilities including bars, restaurants and water-sports facilities.

The Northern end of the island is home to many secluded and beautiful beaches, though without the crowds, resources and activities of the southern beaches; which also tend to have softer sand and stiller water. In order to explore these quiet beaches, travelers must have access to a private vehicle and explore on their own. Whether it’s a quiet cove or an all-night party that you are looking for, Mykonos has beaches for all.
