Budapest Parade Guide

The end of Budapest's steamy summer is celebrated by an even steamier parade. The Budapest parade includes upwards of 50 floats and travels across the city of Budapest via the scenic, wide, tree-lined Andrassy Street from Roosevelt Square to Hero's Square.

Obviously, one of the most sought after attractions in the Budapest parade are the floats. Floats are sponsored by local Budapest clubs and radio stations and blast electronic music. The floats are usually flanked by outrageously-costumed dancers and performers. The parade is interactive, and spectators walk and dance along with the floats. Parade-goers often put on their most outrageous costumes; or nothing at all. There is much near-nudity in this raucous event; it's definitely not your average holiday parade.

During the day vendors sell food and water and locals bring their virtual liquor cabinets into the streets. While the parade itself is wild, the party truly begins at nightfall. After darkness falls begins the year's most glorious fireworks display. Following the fireworks, partiers continue to drink and dance at clubs across the city, which offer late-night after parties. A combination of Burning Man, Carnival and Berlin's famous Love Parade; this sexy, outdoor summertime city party could only happen in Budapest and is an event to remember.
