Weather Ireland Guide

Weather in Ireland has gotten mixed reviews. After all, there’s a reason why Ireland is known for its emerald green hills, images of misty mornings at country castles, windy beaches and rugged cliffs. It is Ireland's weather that makes it beautiful; unfortunately, this often means rain. Ireland is rainy year-round and it is the rain that keeps Ireland's climate relatively mild.

Temperatures range from 50-70 F in the summers and 40-60 in the winters: not a wide range of temperatures. You can be assured that heat and snow will be rare occurrences. In the summer time, the daylight is especially long-lasting and the nights never get quite dark.

While Ireland is an island, you will seldom feel compelled to swim at the beach. A sunny day can be suddenly interrupted by rain which will leave as quickly as it came. It is also this same rain which provides Ireland with its endless rainbows, legends of green leprechauns and pots of gold.

There's an old saying "You don't go to Ireland for the weather", but when you do go to Ireland, learn to love and appreciate this wild climate because its part of what makes the land so lovely.
