Travel Guide Italy

Italy is next to France the country with the most visitors from overseas. With lots of attractions and different beautiful landscapes the tourism is not as centralised as it it might be in France (in Paris).

People who travel Italy can visit Venice, they can stay a while in the amazing Tuscany area and relax some days. Some tourists go to visit Rome and others travel to the Italian Lakes, like Lago Maggiore, Lago di Como, or Lago di Garda. Or you can visit Sicily in southern Italy and discover the southern italian culture which is really different from the people living in the northern part (Alps or Milano) in Italy.

You see, there are many real famous and beautiful spots in Italy - actually all of them are a must to see. Most tourists only visit but we recommend to visit at least one other spot in Italy!! A nice idea is to rent a Villa (Accommodation rental) in the Tuscany for a week and travel around there.

Travel Italy Guide

Italy is a peninsula located in the south east of Europe, in the Mediterranean region. In the north-west, it borders on France; at north it borders on Switzerland and Austria; and in the north-east, it borders on Slovenia. Most of the country is enclosed by sea. The Ligurian Sea, the Sardinian Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea border the country on the west; the Sicilian Sea and the Ionian Sea surround the south coast and the Adriatic Sea bathes the east coast of the country.

The two principal ranges of mountains in the country are the Alps and the Apennines. The highest peaks in the Alps are Monte Bianco, Monte Rosa, and Cervino. The Alps constitutes a natural border that separates Italy from France, Austria, Slovenia and Switzerland. The Vesuvius and other active volcanoes can be found in the Alps. Sicilia and Sardegna are the main islands in the country. And the Tremiti Islands, the Tuscan Archipelago, the Pontine Islands are some of the principal archipelagos in Italy.

To get to Italy there are many options. Traveling by plane is a good alternative though it can be a bit expensive. You also have the possibility of renting a car and this will allow you to travel around the country. A cheaper choice is the train by which you can travel to the main towns in the country. The bus service is not expensive either.

It can be said that the climate in Italy is moderate but it is definite diverse and it differs from region to region. The Alps forms a defense against the winds and contributes to a temperate climate. Proximity to the sea and mountains greatly influence the climate. For instance, winters in the Alps are very cold while on the Ligurian coast are mild and gentle.
On the coast the climate is Mediterranean, winters are mild and summers dry and hot.

Some of the principal regions for your holiday in Italy are:
In the Aosta region, which is near the French border, you can climb, hike or ski in Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa.
In the Piedmont region apart from enjoying the incredible landscape you can taste the exquisite cuisine of the place. The principal city in this region is Turin.

Sicily is one of the main Italian islands. It enjoys great climate and it is important because of the history of the place. This islands is home of one the greatest volcanoes, Mount Etna.
