Beaches Guide
Spanish beaches are the most popular in Europe, and may be some of the most beautiful in the world. In the summertime, islands like Ibiza off of the Spanish coast are flooded with tourists from around the world and coastal cities like Barcelona are overrun with bikinis. Spain is also a popular destination for naturists, as it is host to an abundance of nude beaches and resorts. Spain has a beautiful beach to offer every type of traveler.
Most of Spain's beaches lie along the "Costa del Sol". This popular stretch of land has seen a dramatic increase in popularity over the last few decades, and much of the land here is owned by Brits who fell in love with the place while on holiday. The beaches here are speckled with small seafood bars and open air restaurants. Because of the popularity of these beaches, one can expect all of the amenities to be available here, from chairs and tables to boat and jet ski rentals. These beaches are catered towards family travelers.
The most romantic of Spain's beaches can be found along the Costa de la Luz. These pristine beaches stretch from Spain's border with Portugal to the straights of Gilbralter. This stretch of beaches is 300 Km long and is home to several protected park lands including the famous Doñana National park.
The Canary Islands are an old tourist standby for European travelers, especially Dutch and Scandinavian travelers. The seven main Canary Islands are Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife, La Palma, Gomera, and Hierro. The constant climate and beautiful beaches here make it a great place to visit year-round, and is one of Europe's oldest vacation resort spots. As each island differs dramatically from the others, it is a great place to explore and hop from island to island.
The Balaeric Archipelago is the grouping of Spanish islands which includes Ibiza, Mallorca and Minorca. These islands are the most party-friendly and prettiest in all of Europe. They are known for their free-spirit, high prices, exciting nightlife and, of course, gorgeous beaches. DJ’s and performers travel from around the world to showcase their talents here, and the tropical atmosphere brings many back seasonally, while others decide to stay for good.
All in all, Spain has a long coastline with beauty around every corner. Spain's beaches have been appreciated tourist destinations since the beginning of tourism itself.
