Ibiza Nude Guide

“I woke up naked on the beach, in Ibiza, in 1988.” So go the lines of LCD Soundsystem’s hit song “Losing My Edge” in which the character singing desperately and ironically flaunts his fading coolness.

But even though you won’t be the first person to visit a nude beach in Ibiza, you certain won’t be alone. Nor will you be the last.

The Spanish are staunch nudists, and the Spanish Naturists recently released a declaration of the rights of Nudists in Spain. It is your right to be naked in Spain, and Ibiza is an ideal place to undress. Topless-ness is acceptable on all Ibiza beaches, and nudity on most, though there are only a few "officially" nude beaches there.

Ibiza's Playa d'en Bossa was voted one of the world's ten best nude beaches by Fodor’s last year. This is the longest beach in Ibiza and is home to many restaurants, recreational facilities and is well-supervised. Until mid-afternoon, the majority of bathers here are families, with the partiers, body-builders and babes showing up later in the day. Loud techno music begins in the late afternoon, and is pumped from many of the beach bars. This is called the "Rolex Beach" as in, the "watch" beach, a place to watch and be watched.

Es Cavalett is another popular nude beach in Ibiza, and the top end of the beach is mostly reserved for homosexuals. This beach has an interesting combination of family-friendly and sexy, in that uniquely Spanish way. The waters are calm and safe, as are the visitors here. The beach is backed by rolling sand dunes and some greenery but is the perfect beach to bath and stroll.

Though nudity is not common in Ibiza nightclubs, there are several resorts which cater to nude travelers and include nude dining, dancing and nude, well...everything. Certain DJ’s hold nude dance parties on the local beaches, though these are often underground and are not openly advertised, but must be discovered.

Spain is one of the most nude-friendly countries in the world, and Ibiza is Spain's nude capital. There is no reason why you cannot spend your entire Ibiza vacation, from airport to airport, in the buff.
