San Antonio is Ibiza's second largest resort town, about a 20 minute drive from Ibiza city proper. San Antonio is one of Europe's most popular resorts, and its ancient port is bustling with activity year-round. In the center of San Antonio, you will find its famous palm tree-lined promenade. Due to its popularity, San Antonio is lively year-round, popular with family visitors in the spring and fall and with partiers from around the world during the summertime, in which San Antonio has some of the greatest nightlife to be found in Europe.

The beaches of San Antonio are wide, soft-sanded, safe and gorgeous. In the summer of 2002, San Antonio's "New Beach" was cleaned up and made ready for visitors. As the San Antonio beaches can get somewhat crowded during the summer, many visitors opt to take a ferry to the beaches of the West Coast of the island. The ferries run often from the port and in front of the larger hotels and travel to such beautiful local beaches as Cala Bassa and Cala Conta.

In the center of San Antonio is a large, fun Plaza. The Plaza is filled with exotic plants and trees, a series of playful fountains and a children's park. The Plaza overlooks the bay and is a short walking distance from the center of town, where you will find the majority of restaurants and bars. This is also the ideal spot from which to watch the fireworks of St. Bartholomew day on August 24.

The downtown area of San Antonio surrounds the Plaza, and is home to a 14th Century church. Downtown San Antonio has many great restaurants, bars and nightclubs as well as theaters and entertainment for visitors of all ages and budgets. During the summer months, the town really comes to life as revelers roam from club to club and the square itself becomes a sort of impromptu party.

Anyone with a yacht and some time to travel knows that San Antonio is one of the most beautiful and fun resorts in all of Europe. For those of you without a yacht, San Antonio can be discovered and loved by land, and should be, as soon as possible.
