Travel Mallorca Guide
Mallorca is the most important and greatest island among the Balearics Islands. The island offers an incredible landscape formed by rocky mountains, green hills covered with pines plains in the south and beautiful sandy beaches. The island is blessed by hot summers and gentle winters which turn Mallorca into a perfect destination for tourists.
You can get to the Island of Mallorca by air; there are many airlines which offer charter flights to the island. The flights arrive at Son Sant Joan airport which is located on the outskirts of the city. You can also get there by ferry.
The capital city of Mallorca is Palma. There you can go to the historic centre and visit the stunning cathedral. The historic city is home to Renaissance and Baroque style buildings.
There are many attractions in the city and travel around Palma on foot, distances are not long.
The beaches of Mallorca extend along all the coastline. The most important resorts are Magalluf, Palma Nova, Pollenca and Alcudia.
You can go to some of the many caves on the island. The most popular one are the Caves of Drac. They are considered to be the main attractions on Mallorca. Another town for tourists is Valldemossa whose main attraction is the Royal Carthusian Monastery. It is home to some attractive museums which display a collection of works from different subjects.
The Castell de Bellver is another popular attraction. It is a fortress from the 14th century and it is placed in the west of the centre of the city. Here you can have a unique view of the island.
If like practicing sports, you can have a lot of fun on this island. Cycling is a good option and you can go cycling in the windy roads of the islands. There are great places for climbing such as the Torrent de Pareis, which is mainly for experts, or Creveta de Pollença which is easier. Parachuting can also be practiced in Sierra de Tramuntana.
