Travel Swiss Alps Guide
Ski Chalets, pristine lakes, cheese and Heidi have one thing in common, they hail from the spectacular Swiss Alps. The Swiss Alps are an ideal spot for athletes as they are packed with snow-sport opportunities and endless trails and outdoor recreation. The Swiss Alps are also highly accessible to the non-athlete as the Swiss train system will carry you deep into these gorgeous mountains without disturbing the natural beauty of the place.
The Matterhorn Mountain overlooks the resort of Zermath and offers some of the Alp's best skiing and hiking, as well as some stunning views. Chalets both at the base of the mountain and farther up offer cozy respites from the cold, local sweet wine and delicious fondue: a local treat.
Surprisingly high in the Mountains is the virtually un-touched town of Gruyeres. This medieval village is like a journey back in time. At the center of this wondrous town is the Castle of Gruyeres. The entire village site perched atop a hill and provides even more wondrous views of the beautiful local landscapes. Another city in the Alps that is not to be missed is that of Bern. This pretty little town is home to cute market squares and a beautiful town clock tower, and every corner is filled with Swiss Alp charm.
The Ticino Valley is the area of the Alps which borders Italy and its unique splendor, Mediterranean greenery and stunning waterfalls are a must-see on any trip to the Alps.
The Swiss Alps makes winter truly beautiful by offering everything the snow has to offer in the comfort of cozy, safe Switzerland.
