Zermatt is located at the northern base of the Mt. Matterhorn in Switzerland . This village is famous for the purity of its air since no cars are allowed there. It is placed at 1620 meters in the Matter Valley in Valais. The landscape is featured by peaks, glaciers, valleys and ravines. This impressive ski resort has many attractions for tourists for example it allows for walks, ice skating, trekking, and other activities. But most of all, this village has an inspiring view that surpasses any offer.

 

This resort is well-known for its spectacular ski and climbing sites. The landscape is conquered by the extraordinary vision of Matterhorn which stands at 4478 meters. This village is surrounded by a ring of mountains, some of which are Dent Blanche, Dom, Gabelhorn and Monte Rosa.

 

The village is pollution free since cars are not allowed there. The air is fresh and the atmosphere is unique. You can enjoy silence.

 

Visitors can get to Zermatt by train from the towns of Brig and Visp. The rail service in Switzerland is recognized for its excellent competence and quality. This is the most popular method of transport used for going from one place to the other in Switzerland . Trains arrive at the train station located in Zermatt .

 

You can also go there by car but you cannot go further than the village of Täsch . There you will find a car park for you to leave the car. Täsch is 3 miles from Zermatt and there are bus and train connections every 20 minutes and the trip takes about 10 minutes. You can also park your car for free in Visp and then take a train to Zermatt .

 

In the summer the village offers the visitors the possibility to go for walks in an environment surrounded by mountains, you can also do mountain bike, paragliding, go skiing, play tennis, sunbathe and swim in one of the most spectacular locations in the world. Summers and autumns are both great periods to visit Zermatt . In the winter you can choose among the many different winter activities this place has to offer for example snowboarding, skiing, sledding and hiking.

 

Bahnhofstrasse is the main street in the village. This zone is where the cafes and restaurants are. You will also find in the mountains traditional huts where you can taste exceptional dishes at not very high prices.  Restaurants in Zermatt are a lure for the rich and the famous from different parts of the world. The prices are high but so is the quality.
